In 2023 we will be launching The Cyber Challenge – a charitable trust aimed at helping our industry source and recruit talented individuals for the future.
The Cyber Challenge will create a series of initiatives aimed at addressing the shortage of talent and articulating clear career pathways for those looking to establish a role within the cyber security industry. Online challenges will help individuals determine if cyber is a suitable career, and then provide a runway through which talent can progress into a full-time role within one of The Cyber Scheme’s sponsor companies. The aim is to encourage a diverse range of people, from career transitioners through to apprentices, IT practitioners and later stage students, and to work with industry leaders who can identify real time recruitment shortages.
By working with our sponsors and creating education resources such as beginner-level online exams, training videos and professional mentoring, The Cyber Challenge can bridge the gap between those looking for a career in cyber, and those who need to recruit.
The Cyber Challenge is aimed at school leavers aged 18+, as well as anyone interested in joining the cyber security industry after working in another field, regardless of their educational achievements. The goal is to identify talent and encourage more people to enter the industry who may have found the sheer numbers of training resources and courses too complicated to navigate. There will be less emphasis on gaming and competitions, and more on industry involvement, self-learning and career development, working closely with The Cyber Scheme and their industry partners.
Please note this is a separate initiative to that of our charity partner The Cyber Security Challenge UK, which focuses on school-aged children. The Cyber Challenge is aimed at a more commercial outcome to support our security testing community. For details about CSCUK please click here.
