The Cyber Scheme is a not-for-profit organisation and is run by an Independent Board of Directors drawn from a range of backgrounds but with significant experience in Business and the Cyber Security industry. The Cyber Scheme was set up with the approval of GCHQ/NCSC as the National Authorities on Cyber Security.
Our vision is to provide a high quality platform for certification in a range of critical skills areas to support the UK’s National Cyber Security needs, digital resilience and the economic wellbeing across the full spectrum of UK business, academia and the public sector. It is important that all of these sectors have access to suitably qualified staff in order to meet the challenges they face in the Digital world we live in today.
Working in collaboration with the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Industry partners and WMG at Warwick University, the aim of the Cyber Scheme is to provide a high quality and robust training and examination process to meet those needs.
The Cyber Schemes focus will initially be penetration testing training and examinations given the significant skills shortage in this area. However, will seek to develop offers in the fields of WEB Apps, forensics, malware analysis, risk assessment, risk management and related cyber security capabilities.
The profession needs properly trained and certificated professionals and the Cyber Scheme will help to encourage new talent into the cyber security industry and to provide a professionalization route for those already working in the industry.
The Cyber Scheme is one of only three organisations accredited by GCHQ/NCSC to offer examinations that meet UK Government Standards in Penetration Testing. The NCSC, as the National Authority for Cyber Security ensures that the Cyber Scheme is operating at the highest standards in the delivery of our training and examinations. Certifications issued by the Cyber Scheme are therefore recognised by NCSC as meeting the necessary standards to apply for membership of the NCSC CHECK scheme.
Quality of service delivery is subject to regular audit and is monitored on an on-going basis by the NCSC. This ensures that course content reflects the current cyber security trends and threats and that the examination processes are robust and as near real world as is possible in an examination environment.
For the Cyber Scheme Team Leader (CSTL) certification we have developed a testing environment that provides as near real world challenges to candidates through randomly generated scenarios which means that no two candidates will ever sit the same Assault course. So successful candidates and future employers can be assured that the certification has fully tested knowledge, experience and creative thinking in the world of Penetration testing.
In order to ensure that the governance, vision and day-to-day management of the scheme are maintained at the highest quality, the Cyber Scheme has also appointed a diverse range of professionals as the executive membership committee.
Presently, the board has representation from; UK Cyber Challenge, IRM LTD.
Other major organisations have also shown an interest in being involved in the scheme in the future.
